    please come (rArA) to protect (kAva) me (nannu) with compassion (karuNatO) for ever (ellappuDu) (nannellappuDu);

    O Handsome (sundara) Lord like cupid (kandarpa) who is the root (kanda) of bliss (Ananda) (sundarAnanda)! please come (rArA);

    O Lord gOvinda! I pay obeisance (vandanamu jEseda) to You (nIku); please come (rArA);

    O Lord known (vEdya) in the vEdas - who has no (rahita) beginning (Adi) or end (anta) (Adyanta)! please come (rArA);

    O Lord known (or regarded) (vEdya) by Lord Siva (bhava)! I (nE) have become (aitini) Your's (nIvADanu) (nIvADanaitini); please come (rArA) quickly (vEga);

    apramEya tyAgarAjunu-Ela rArA (rAma)

    O Lord rAma who is - tranquility-personified (su-prasanna), embodiment (rUpa) of Truth (satya) and virtuous (suguNa)! please come (rArA);

    O Immeasurable Lord (apramEya)! please come (rArA) to govern (Ela) this tyAgarAja (tyAgarAjunu) (tyAgarAjunEla);

    Variations - (Pathanthara)
    1 – kaTTuka –gaTTukO : 'kaTTuka’ seems to be appropriate.

    4 – bhava vEdya – bhava vaidya. If the latter version is correct, it will be translated as ‘the physician (vaidya) to heal the disease called Worldly Existence (bhava)’. Top

    2 – marugu jEsukonunaTTi – In this regard, the following verse of vAlmIki rAmAyaNa, yuddha kANDa, Chapter 117 (sItA’s fire ordeal) refers –

    AtmAnaM mAnushaM manyE rAmaM daSarathAtmajaM |
    sO(a)haM yaSca yataScAhaM bhagavaMstad bravItu mE || 11 ||

    “I account myself a human being, rAma (by name), sprung from the loins of (Emperor) daSaratha. And (yet) let the glorious lord (brahmA) tell me that which I as such (really) am and whence I have come.”
    However, the acts of SrI rAma in redeeming ahalyA, emancipating jaTAyu and Sabari could not be accounted for by this yardstick. Therefore, SrI tyAgrAja states ‘whose might seems to be screened’. Top
